Thebook,pennedbetween1815and1822,wasthefirstwritteninChinese,andwasleftatanOxfamshopinthetownofChelmsford,about70kmnorth-eastofcentralLondon.
Volunteersthoughtitwasvaluableandthecharityputitupforauction,believingitcouldfetchabout£800.
