Summer programs offer opportunities to volunteer, have fun

As summer is upon us, our local service organizations are busy volunteering and planning for the coming club year. While most clubs take a little break as people vacation and kids are out of school, there are many organizations that continue to be very active and they seem to be busier than ever.

There is no break for Coral Gables Rotarians who continue bringing great speakers to the club’s weekly meetings at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables. The June 12 meeting featured Dr. Rachel Silverstein, CEO of Miami Waterkeeper, who explained the concern over the water issue with Turkey Point and the history of trying to resolve the hot water issue going into Biscayne Bay and killing fish and plant life.
