Kitchener non-profit to head ‘deeply affordable’ housing project in Guelph

TheCityofGuelphannouncedthepartnershipinanewsreleaseThursdaythatthey’veselectedThresholdsHomesandSupportsto“buildandoperate13deeplyaffordablerentalunits”at14EdinburghRoadS.inGuelph.
“Affordablesupportivehousingforseniorsisexactlywhatourcityneeds,”GuelphMayorCamGuthriesaidinamediareleaseabouttheproject.
“Thisurgentneediswhycouncilunanimouslyapprovedusingthiscurrentunderperformingpieceofcity-ownedland,whileleveragingthefederalHousingAcceleratorFundprogram,togetthisprojectunderway.”
Thecitywillbecontributingnearlyhalfanacreofcity-ownedlandfortheproject.Theprojectwillreceiveupto$1.5millioninfederalfundingviatheHousingAcceleratorFund.
